Cisco 6921 IP-phone setup

Configuring Cisco 6921 to work with SIP requires several steps. First, download the latest version of firmware for phone and create a configuration file based on the pattern described below. When the phone has downloaded this information from the TFTP-server and is turned on, it is ready for use. The steps of configuration are as follows:

1. Install tftp-server software (for example Tftpd32) Under software settings specify a folder with configuration files and firmware files. Choose the network interface to which phone is connected.

2. Phone setup for tftp firmware. To enter the settings menu click on

Admin Settings > Network Setup > ipv4 setup > click down > Alternate tftp server > switch on YES > click down > tftp Server > enter the IP-address of the PC on which the tftp-server is installed.

3. Phone setup file has the following name structure: SEPE then MAC-address of phone then [.]cnf[.]xml for example SEPE05FBххEххDF.cnf.xml Configuration file example:

Parameters in configuration file should be changed

<processNodeName>sip.zadarma.com</processNodeName> Enter sip.zadarma.com
<proxy>sip.zadarma.com</proxy> Enter sip.zadarma.com
<name>111111</name> SIP-number (for example 111111) from personal account
<displayName>111111</displayName> SIP-number (for example 111111) from personal account
<authName>111111</authName> SIP-number (for example 111111) from personal account
<authPassword>SipPassword</authPassword> Password of sip number from personal account
<loadInformation>SIP69xx.9-4-1-3</loadInformation> Firmware version. Should be specified for phone software update

4. Start your phone in software update mode: Disable power. Press and hold # to turn phone on. Both line indicators should become orange. Press buttons 123456789*0# If everything has been set up correctly, the phone will download all required files from the tftp-server and the software update will be displayed on screen. Under Tftpd32, under the tab LOGS you can find information about the downloaded files. After software update, the phone will reboot automatically and will download the settings file. If you need to make changes to the configuration file, upload it to the phone again after editing the file. In order to do so, press on "Menu", then dial **#**, the phone will then reboot and download the configuration file only. Files will be downloaded by the phone while address of tftp-server is set in settings. If configuration is successful, enter phone menu and turn off tftp-server: Alternate tftp server > NO
